Why Go: Dubbed “the largest arts and crafts fair in Southern California,” Fiesta Hermosa exhibits hundreds of artists and offers live music, food, kids’ activities and a charity beer and wine garden.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND KICKOFF BBQ 

Where/When: Whole Foods Market, 405 N. Pacific Coast Hwy., Redondo Beach; May 28, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Why Go: Get ready for the weekend with a pre-Memorial Day BBQ! Burgers, sides and drinks will be available at Whole Foods to help kick off the holiday.

MANHATTAN BEACH JAZZ QUARTET 

Where/When: Lido Di Manhattan, 1550 Rosecrans Ave., Manhattan Beach; May 28, 7 p.m.

Why Go: What better way to spend a beautiful Saturday night than with dinner and live jazz? Or, just hang at the bar and listen to some great music.

15TH ANNUAL FIREFIGHTERS’ ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PANCAKE BREAKFAST 

Where/When: Hermosa Beach Fire Department, 540 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach; May 29, 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Why Go: Firefighters cook a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fruit and coffee to raise money for multiple charities as part of Fiesta Hermosa.

Pricing: $5-$10

MEMORIAL DAY 2011 

Where/When: Veteran’s Park, 300 Esplanade, Redondo Beach; May 30, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Why Go: Join the community for remembrances and comments dedicated to those we have lost in war. This outdoor Memorial Day event also includes music and BBQ.
