Due to popular demand, Beach Cities Swimming (BCS), located at RedondoUnionHigh School, is expanding open public swim. Hours are 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Lap Swim is available from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Open Swim and Lap Swimming are $3 for Redondo residents and $4 for non residents. After successfully putting more than 500 children through lessons this summer, BCS has added a Monday-through-Thursday session from August 15-25. Classes start on the hour and half-hour. The goal of the camp is to produce Division 1 talent for girls to earn a beach scholarship and boys to become a better indoor player by becoming a better-rounded player. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach is offering its Open Rock Wall and Ropes Course on Saturdays from 12-3 p.m. (Rock Wall is also open Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Whether a single child, the whole family, or just a group of friends (Ages 5 and up for rock wall, 8 and up for ropes course), the course provides challenges of solving problems and overcoming obstacles.
